TimeLog version 6.2.104 - Release date 18 May 2021
Expansion of REST API services
The REST API provides you with the option to make better use of more data types in TimeLog and delete, update and fetch data.
Maybe you have a colleague who is responsible for your system landscape, who you need to forward the information to. It may e.g. be someone who builds your dashboards, or someone who builds integrations between your systems.
Benefits of our REST API
We continuously follow the industry trends, and we therefore prioritise building a new REST API to take over from our Transactional API in more and more cases.
In the future, we enrich our REST API with new services when we build new functionality in TimeLog to better support the data exchange.
- A simple format based on the industry standard JSON
- Read and write access to the most important data types in TimeLog, e.g. employees, customers, projects, tasks and contracts
- Read access to most of TimeLog’s dimensions, e.g. project type and employee type
- Safe communication through the validation process that follows the OAuth2 standard
An example of how you can use the REST API
By using TimeLog’s REST API together with your existing IT systems, you can e.g. let your colleagues create projects or tasks automatically through the tasks they already perform.
It could be in a sales flow, where the API automatically creates a TimeLog project, when a sales person updates a lead in the sales pipeline in the CRM system.
If you need to know more about our REST API, you’re welcome to read more at our API documentation site.
What happens, if you already use our APIs today?
We’ll have a longer transition period where all APIs are in use until all services are available in REST and all customers have changed to the REST API.
We therefore recommend you to start your change and use our REST API to interact with TimeLog in the future.
As always, you’re welcome to contact our support via firstname.lastname@example.org or +45 70 200 645, if you have any questions.
